sorry- me again. if you can get someone to do an 1841 for you- ask them to look for john withernall [43] and wife mary [37] mary [dau 7] too- in bilton. i think mary the elder one- might be williams aunty [ lancelot is living with them in 1851 and is listed as father in law] hope this makes sense lol sue

Hi Sue, Just to check that I've got this right. Are you saying that the elder Mary is William's fathers sister, which would mean that Lancelot was John and Mary's father if he was named as father in law in 1851. So surely if I request 1841 for John Mouncey aged 14 it would show his father as Lancelot. Am I right or totally confused. Nicky

hi, no [ i knew i had explained it badly] i think john b c1826 [williams dad] had parents called mathew and mary [both born c 1787] and i think lancelot [b c1764] could be...........ah not sure seems too young to be mathews dad , but he is the father of mary WETHERALL, which is why i said it might be worth getting her lot from the 1841, maybe work out what the link is . looks like parish records are needed . lol sue.

hi, on the census they seemed to spell it that way too.on the nbi there are some mouncey's buried in st john the evangelist graveyard, bilton in ainsty !!! am trying to match up with yours, sue. ps- the 2 possibles so far mathew d 8/10/1921 aged 65 buried harehills cemetary andwilliam d 31/7/1944 aged 76 at harehills too, could just be a family from harehills with same names, but if you track them to the 1901- and they turn up in that area {?} who knows. lol. sue.

Hi Sue, You could be right about those deaths, the ages are about right. William was living in Esrick in 1901, cant trace anybody else yet. I have discovered that Lancelot is Matthew's older brother and their parents were Joseph Mouncey and Grace Higgins. Nicky

i have put each person on my tree on index cards - it makes life easier. my gma is a - her dad is b - her mum is c- etc. my gdad is 1- his dad 2- his mum 3 etc. and on each card i have each ones details. including what and where they were at each census. was a pain to do - but is a big help. sue.

Sue I have also tried to catalogue into some understandble order but you have to try and concentrate on families separetly when researching otherswise it would be so confusing. But its fun. Nicky
