Marcus Cassop records don't start until 1868 and I checked 1868 to 1871 but there were no baptisms for Wilkinson. You may already have this but I also checked the 1861 census and found the following in 4 Quality Row: William Wilkinson, Head, 31, Coalweigher born Houghton-le-Spring Eleanor Pearson Wilkinson, Wife, 34 born Houghton-le-Spring Robert Wilkinson, Son, 5 born West Rainton William Wilkinson, Son, 3 born Pittington Also looked through the burials from 1868 to 1875 but nothing for Jane Hannah but she could have been married or died between 1859 and 1868. Sorry it wasn't more useful. Andrea

Christine I found a marriage between John Reynolds and Mary Gibson, Dur Central 1876 on durham(.)gov(.)uk before I went. While I was there I had a look through the St Nicholas register but couldn't find the marriage so your best bet is to order the cert from Durham. They are really quick, much better than the GRO. Thanks Andrea

Shelly Allenheads/Allendale is not at Durham so must be Cumberland/Carlisle I'm afraid. The register for Forest of Frith has been in a fire or something and the film is very poor and unreadable in places. Unfortunately I couldn't find Hannah but I found the following baptisms: William Hodgson, son of Mary Ann of Bands Cottage 16/10/1879 All of the following are Martha Hodgson's children and she is from Bane/Bone/Bands Cottage when all are registered except for Jonathon when she is from Harwood Mary Ann Hodgson 26/12/1883 Robert Hodgson 26/12/1883 Stephen Hodgson Feb 1891 (page burned so can't see day) Jonathon Hodgson 23/03/1899 There could be some more but it is impossible to read in some places. Hope this helps Andrea

Hi Andrea, I have a birth cert for Robert Hume born 18 Jan 1840 Mount Pleasant Chirton. Registration District Tynemouth, Sub Dist North Shields, in the County of Northumberland. Father Archibald Hume Mother Jean Hume formerly Lawson. This is my brick wall. I don't know where Archibald Hume was born or Jean Lawson. I don't know where they were married. I'm hoping there is a marriage reference or they are on a 1841 census. Robert Hume was married in New Zealand in 1865 so any information on him would have to be before this date. Any help you could give me would be very much appreciated. Thankyou.

Hi Andrea, Thanks for what you have looked at so far. Could you look through the Kelloe parish registers, which I think may cover Cassop for the dates in question. If not Kelloe, then I don't know what would cover it. Thanks, Marcus

Hi Andrea I have an Arthurine Watson on 1871and 1881 census /birthplace states born Gateshead On Tyne, Durham but have an IGI record stating she was christened 27th September 1857 Arthuret Cumberland. Any chance you could check the Gateshead birth for me? Many thanks Pauline

Andrea B Report 26 Sep 2004 16:25

Pauline Gateshead is massive so I would need an area. If your IGI baptism is correct I doubt there would be a corresponding entry in a Gateshead register as she wouldn't be baptised twice would she? If you think that your IGI entry could be the wrong person do you ahve any idea where in Gateshead she was born so that I can check the correct register? Thanks Andrea

Christine, sorry I haven't missed you I just haven't been to the right place for you again yet. I have been back to Durham today but I need to go to Tyne & Wear again for yours. Unfortunately it will be a couple of weeks because I'm off on holiday this weekend. And I know that I still have to do Pauline's, Gordon's and Beth's too. Beth I tried to get yours from Durham but there are three films for Gateshead so I didn't get time to finish looking today so I'll pick up when I go to Tyne & Wear, sorry. It's amazing how quickly the day flies! Andrea
