Light Relief on the subject. My father left home when I was 8 (1948) In later years we found out he was already married with a son. By then my mother had 3 Kids.(Not Married) I went searching in the 80's And would you believe I found him. aged 80 and very happy with his lot. He had remarried a great lass from East Germany. In between times he had a number of relationships. He died aged 84 with a smile on his face. Mum by then had married a great guy from Wales. Who bless him passed on in 1973 . Went on a cruise met a guy from New Jersey U.S.A. Married in 1980. Great guy again but died in 1991. The sum of all this is I have direct and indirect family all around the world. Big Families! By the way mum was an orphan at 5. I am not sure on the debate of GC/RC. Why not "Happy Families" Try sorting my lot out!!! By the way my wife Diana's Family is twice as complicated. Only for "Light Relief" Leon P.S.Mum is still alive and kicking who knows the story could go on

Jill 2011 (aka Warrior Princess of Cilla!) Report 4 Jun 2004 23:54

I've been away for a week and have missed all the fun by the sound of things. It took me a while to get back into the site and it was only after sending a stroppy e-mail to the powers that be that it dawned on us (me and my computer-aware son) that my cookies were not enabled! Painful affliction that. Anyway, is it my imagination or is GenesReunited free to register? That's what it seemed like when on one of my attempts to get into the site I re-registered ... Or do I have to continue paying which was what I was doing in GenesConnected? If it's free on GenesReunited I'll just "transfer" everything. Confused of Kent signing off - Oh the joys of being 47. Hi I completely agree with everyone about the name change - firstly, the "research" justification sounds like a complete fabrication, and they're labouring under a delusion if they think we all call it Genes Reunited - that's the first time I've heard that - do they think we're all stupid and confuse it with Friends Reunited? And how much response has there been to our views from the so-called powers (I can think of a far more apt and less polite term) that be at GC (NOT GR!!!!!!!)? They've lit the blue touch-paper and walked away. I find it patronising and high-handed - they should remember who bankrolls them; while I'm happy to pay my £7.50 for what I've always seen as a great site, the money must be rolling in, so a bit of customer service wouldn't go amiss.... What can we do about it? I don't want to leave GC, and although I'm going to e-mail them directly, I think the effect of this is likely to be nil. Has anyone got any ideas? Must stop ranting before the steam starts coming out of my ears and singes my hair. Lysianne

Hummmmm reunited? would rather not be reunited with any of me dead relatives just yet... genes connected made much more sense.. besides I like many others call it the GC site..lame excuse to change the name of the site!

I've looked at all the replies objecting to the name change, however I have to admit that being a relatively new member to this part of the site - I have always refered to it as Genes Reunited as I simply access my Family Tree through Friends Reunited... No doubt many others do too!

Assuming that this is being read by the powers that be please can you tell me why you have never responded to my requests for help? I've sent three emails about a problem in trying to amend my family tree - I know I shouldn't have got it wrong in the first place but it is now a mess. Please can you let me know how to put it right? Thanks Trish ps having read all the other messages if I was you I would consider holding a vote on the name change before you proceed and upset the members. Personally I don't have strong feelings about it.
