I have just recieved the Australian Vital Records Index and will be quite happy to any look up's on your ancestors who emigrated to/living in Australia BUT please note what is available on the disc......

**Dawn O**

**Dawn O** Report 17 Nov 2003 16:18

The discs contains an index of births, christenings, marriages and deaths (they provide the information necessary to order copies of orginal certificates from Australia)......... New South Wales.......1788 - 1888 Tasmania.......1803 - 1899 Victoria........1837 - 1888 Western Australia.......1841 - 1905 This disc like the VRI for the British Isles is not complete but I was lucky enough to find most of my ancestors listed. Please give me as much info as possible, ie...Name and the State, if known, etc.....I would appreciate it, if you can put your requests on this thread and shall do the look up's, each evening, when I've finshed work (midnight...) Dawn.

Hi Dawn, All I know about Edward Walford (so far) is that he was sentenced to be transported for life at Somerset Assizes in 1822. He was born in Over Stowey about 1798. If that isn't enough info please don't go to any trouble. Gwynne

Hi Susie, Have had luck here......ELIZABETH KEEP (Marriage...) Spouse:- JOHN ALSEPT Marriage Date:- 29th of September 1834 Reg Year:- 1834 Reg State:- Tasmania Ref Number:- 2658 ELIZABETH ALSEPT (Death...) Sex:- Female Age at Death:- 40 Death Date:- 9th of February 1841 Reg Year:- 1841 Reg State:- Tasmania Ref Number:- 609 JOHN ALSEPH (Death....note that the surname was spelt with an 'h', instead of 't'...) Sex:- Male Age at Death:- 5 Death Date:- 28th of August 1839 Reg Year:- 1839 Reg State:- Tasmania Ref Number:- 228 JAMES ALSEPT (Death...) Sex:- Male Age at Death:- 0 Death Date:- 22nd of January 1839 Reg Year:- 1839 Reg State:- Tasmania Ref Number:- 80 I also looked on http://www(.)pioneers(.)archives(.)tas(.)gov/au - this is the home page of 'Colonial Tasmanian Family Links'.......go to the bottom of the page and you'll see 'SEARCH'. Click on that, you will be taken to the search page, tap in Elizabeth Keep and leave everything else blank, click on search.... This will take you to the infomation that this site has on Elizabeth Keep, it tells you her birth year (1801), her marriage year (1834) in Clarence, Tasmania, her hubbi, John Alsept and when she died (1841, in Horbart, Tasmania - this made me look again for her death record and I believe her 2 sons). You can do the same search for John Alseph, it will reveal that he died in Horbart, Tasmania, just like James Alsept. I do hope this is of any help to you, I can't help thinking that your ancestor Elizabeth had a sad and short life...... The best of luck with the rest of your researching, I will be only too happy to help, if you have any further quieres.....Take Care Susie. hugs, Dawn. P.S My ancestors also went to Tasmania, not as convicts though..!!!

Thanks so much for this offer. I am looking for William Frederick Restall who abandoned his wife and children, and landed in Victoria in 1854. Have no idea if he died there, or married again. He may have reached Tasmania. I wonder if you could look for any Restalls in these areas? Many thanks.

**Dawn O**

**Dawn O** Report 18 Nov 2003 20:40

Hi Vanessa, I am sorry but there is no William Frederick Restall listed for a marriage or death, I checked in all four States.....nor births/christenings naming him as their father. I have had a hunt around on 'Colonial Tasmanian Family Links' - http://www(.)pioneers(.)archives(.)tas(.)gov/au and there is not one Restall member listed. I tried both, using various surname spellings and unfortunetly no luck. Sorry.... Dawn.

Dawn, I have a family who emigrated after 1881 but I dont know exactly when, they are Hutchinson PARKER (born 1852 Sunderland, died NSW 1915) Christiana PARKER (born 1857, Bishopwearmouth dont know when she died) They had two children Annie born 1877/8 and Frederick born 1879/80. You may find more children born in NSW or the marriages or deaths of these ones which could help fix the date they emigrated also Arthur SINCLAIR married to Mary VERNEY died in Daylesford Nr Ballarat, Victoria in 1880, but I dont know the date.
