I have searched for Ernest's military death record, there is one for Sunderland, which is the following, however it states that his mother was Ann!!

Name: PATTERSON, ERNEST

Unit Text: 35th Field Amb
Age: 26
Date of Death: 07/10/1917

Additional information: Son of Ann Patterson, of 59, Mainsforth Terrace, Hendon, Sunderland.
Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead
Grave/Memorial Reference: VII. G. 7.
Cemetery: DOZINGHEM MILITARY CEMETERY

The only other option (it doesnt give his parents) is the following

Name: PATTERSON
Initials: E
Nationality: United Kingdom
Rank: Sapper
Regiment/Service: Royal Engineers
Unit Text: 96th Light Railway Operating Coy.
Date of Death: 30/12/1917

Susan

You've got me confused now.........lol!

You say Violet Patterson was your Aunt........then you say she was your grandmother!

And your other thread about these people states that Charles and Elizabeth didn't marry until 1904.

I think you need to do some double-checking.............

Sam Report 14 Sep 2007 16:17

Sorry, I missed the bit in your original question when you said she was a spinster!

There aren't any Violet Pattersons on the 1901 born 1891 +/- 5 years from Durham (or anywhere near there).
