When you say Essex do you mean the current Essex - or the old Essex which included some of East London - ie Canning Town, West Ham etc?

hi julie my name is paula im searching the nicholls side . my grandfather was a nicholls he was born in braintree essex bertie charles nicholls 1901. i have tryed so hard to find out is parents names all which keeps coming back to me is bertie henry nicholls with parents names i want to know if you could find any info out for me will be much appricieated . kind regards paula

Could you see if you could find a birth/ baptism/ parents names for Thomas Johnson, born about 1818, Upminster.

His military records state that he was born near the town of Brentwood, Upminster.

He has (most annoyingly) in various census etc, been transcribed as Johnston/ Johnstone.

Any help you can give would be really appreciated.

I was wondering if your kind offer is still open?
I am just starting out trying to research my family tree and am finding it very difficult to find out about my fathers family.
I have found out that my grandmother (Ethel May Wetton) was born 27th August 1925 in Lambeth and that her mothers maiden name was Nicholls.(no idea of first name but it is possible she was also ethel may)
This is as far as i have got i am afraid. I know she had a brother, but dont know his name or date of birth. Any info whatsoever woud be brilliant, no matter how small a detail.
Sorry if this is too little an amount of information to find anything.

Hello Julie, Can you help me in my search for details of John Chaplain c1765 BMD. Think he married Sarah c1770.some time late 1700.
He lived in the Harwich area, presume he was born there.
They had a son John c1809, born Harwich who married Susannah Simms Harvey c1812. Marriage 1832.

Would you kindly look up for the baptisms of :

George William Hubble - dob 16-4-1879
Emma Clara Hubble - dob 29-11-1881
(I'm hoping that they are both on the same tape!)

Father is George Hubble - Mother is Emma Louisa Francis.

The address is West Ham, Canning Town area. The local parish is St Lukes on the 1881/1891 census.

I have already checked for George within this parish for 1879 a few years ago when I went to the Essex record office, so please start with 1880.

All I have, as I cannot find birth registration, is Edward Rollings/Rawlings born 1842 Ilford, Essex.
From marriage certificate father is James and from census mother possibly Elizabeth.

KATHLEEN TERRY born 1898
ELLEN TERRY born 1901
they were all born in Canning Town area (St Lukes?). Their parents were Catherine and Daniel Terry. Hope this enough info for you to go on. Thanks for your time. julie

Sarah ELSDON (nee Parmenter) b 1804 in Gosfield married Daniel VIALL b 1803 in Bocking.

I would be very grateful if you are able to find:
(i) the date Sarah married Daniel;
(ii) when Sarah married an Elsdon, and who, if poss; and
(iii) baptism details for Sarah when she was a Parmenter.

I have been looking for the marriage of ELIZA FITCH and JOHN PHILLIPS for ages. She was born in Linton Cambs/ Essex (I understand Linton was on the border then) and he came from Kent, but I can't find the mariage locally in Bexley parish records. I think they would have married btween 1861 and 1868 when their first son was born in Erith.
