I am trying to find my g.g grandfather. I have found his marriage to Alice Patrick in Rotherham in 1872 and have found him with the family on the 1891 and 1901 census, however, I can't trace his birth nor can I trace him on any other census.

I have found his death in Leeds in 1912 which shows his estimated birth year as 1853. On the 1891 census it shows him being born c1848 in Glossop and on the 1901 census it shows him being born c1854 in Glossop.

Where was he until 1891? He was married in 1872 but missing from the family on the 1881 census. I am also unable to trace his birth and cannot trace him as a boy on any census.

Any ideas would be really really appreciated. I'm coming to the end of my tether on this one!!
