Its the Mormons site - familysearch.org -they have a large number of parish records but not all - Norfolk, for instance, refused to hand them over. Always check that the record is extracted rather than submitted as there are some horrendously inaccurate submissions from members on there.

Actually, forget that marriage. According to the IGI, Robert Proctor married Mary Ann Brown.

I've found this marriage - note the name Chamberlain! Could be a co-incidence.

Sorry Just got back from school run. The occupation for Robert on the marriage cert is Labourer and for his father I can`t work it out but looks like Hawker ???
Witnesses were Charles and Sarah Ann CHamberlain.

Heather Report 18 Oct 2007 15:38

Had another look at the job - theres a bloke on previous page where it is easier to read, same job, looks like Colander man - hemp.

Heather

Heather Report 18 Oct 2007 15:08

Cant make out at all what that first letter on place of birth is supposed to be??? If you look down the page the enumerator uses it twice again - in one case followed by a ditto

Heather

Heather Report 18 Oct 2007 15:01

What are the occupation details for him and for the father on the marriage cert? And where was the marriage? What address is given as residence? Who are the witnesses?

Angela now in Wilts (not North Devon) Report 18 Oct 2007 14:55

I can't work out what Robert's birthplace is in 1891, except it says Middx. Nor can I work out his occupation, something worker - looks like hemp written over the top?

Karen

Karen Report 18 Oct 2007 14:54

It could but I still never got any further with it or the Blumor name. I just wish there was a way I could find out more about Robert before marriage. All I have is his father was also Robert !!! That just made it harder !

Heather

Heather Report 18 Oct 2007 14:52

Just had a look meself and yes it says Border for Mary and in fact his birth place looks like Stratford again?

On the marriage cert was is his occupation and what is the fathers occupation and who are the witnesses

Heather

Heather Report 18 Oct 2007 14:49

If it says sister in law (and Angela says it actually says boarder )then it could mean step sister.

Angela now in Wilts (not North Devon) Report 18 Oct 2007 14:42

I've had a pm from Karen:

Hi thanks for helping. I have seen the 1891 census but ruled that out as Mary Blumor is sister in law and I took that as being Harrietts sister and i know my Harriett had a sister Eliza and her maiden name was Griggs. Its just such a mystery where he came from before they married ??

From Karen

******

Karen, the image doesn't say sister in law. I think it says border (boarder?)
