hi i am writing to see if you could help me find my grandad. James Sydney Morris was born on 9/1/1916 at knowsley road liverpool, He joined the royal navy and was still in in 1946 he is thought to have married and had a baby girl between 1947 to 1952? He is thought to have settled in Gosport? I would be greatful if you found any information or advise me how to go about it as I am drawing a blank thanks

Could you do a lookup on the 1851 census please. It is a William Hedges born approx 1790 in Hampshire (possibly Bishopstoke or Twyford). I believe that there are 1792 and 1794 entries.

Also, can you do probate searches: if so, is there an entry for a John (or James) Myles (or Miles) in 1906 (Portsmouth, Hants) or a Sarah Emily Myles (or Miles) in 1928 (Portsmouth, Hants).

Hi David,
Can you try for the death of a John Harold or Harrold probably in Penrith ,Cumberland after 1886.In 1881 he was living in Penrith with wife Margaret,both born Moray,Scotland 1850.He's not with his wife in the 1891 census though she is still there in Penrith and listed as "married" not widowed.Their last child was born 1886 in Penrith.He was a land surveyor and in 1871 at least was working for the Ordnance Survey so might have moved around a bit. I'd also be very happy if you could find the birth of his father James Harold or Harrold in Chatham,Kent in 1819 or 20.In 1841 James was in Dallas ,Moray ,an apprentice shoemaker.I suspect his father was probably a soldier from Morayshire based in the Chatham barracks.

I have recently become a bit stuck on my research
I am trying to find some details on the roots of my gg grandparents who were from ireland
i have listed all my research to date below but i have nothing on when or where they were born, where and when they died, details of their parents or possible siblings.
If you think you can help me trace some of this information or even find find out more than i have listed i would really appreciate it.
Also if you happen to come across any information on the their children Mary and Joseph that would be a great bonus as i only have their names and dob's (i already have a lot of information on Edmond as he is my g grandfather)

On the 1881 i have James Povey B 1870 Wem Shropshire, with his parents Thomas bc 1826 Holart Cheshire and Mary bc 1838 Wem Shropshire.
I can't find anything on this family before the 1881.
Any chance you can find anything?
I was wondering if Thomas had any other children or a previous marriage.
Any info would be greatly appreciated
