Was looking on BVRI for a possible marriage. Didn't find one but came across this one that gave me a chuckle.

She is down as a Widower

1861 census has a Mary Ann Sargeson, 55, a widow living in Leeds. Says she was born Oulton, Yorks though.

I was assuming she was a widow when she married my relative George Mayson in 1863, so was hoping to find her in 61 or 51 as a widow or with husband Sargeson.

there is only one mary sargeson b abt that time but she was b leeds.widow 1861..prop only way to find her married/maiden name is to buy cert..

Yes that was them, but I was trying to find Mary Ann when she was Mary Ann Sargeson in 1851/1861.
