His marriage cert may have his full name i think you have the ref. for that don't you.

Right I have spoken to 2 more members of the family and I have the following.
my gt gramp was Robert Frederick Marsh born around 1877 and in southampton, they are all sure without doubt he was a southampton man, he married emily goddard and had twin boys born in 1903 call robert and frederick after himself, now my auntie said he died after her mum (my nan) who die in 1943 because he lived with them but no-one knows when he die. before all this and in 1926 gt gramp lived in 51 bevois st southampton with son frederick and his wife win but no site goes that far on addresses so I got stuck there.. does this help anymore then before, gt nans death cert just says husband robert marsh!!

Thanks for looking, I am going with the Robert George as it runs with the family name for now, I will spk to uncle(s) later and see if that rings bells with them!! as it is all in the southampton hampshire area.

Hi again ,just having a look on Birth index and census cannot see any with birth Southampton.a few in Hampshire though

Julie I think you need to get the marriage cert. to find his fathers name and it will possibily give his age and then post on here so we can look for at least a father and son. in census to confirm the right family,my mum always thought her family only came from London, only for me to find they had moved there from Suffolk!!

Yes very mixed up I think, his name was Robert Marsh and I think they got him mixed up with the name 'George' it was Robert Marsh without a doubt but now I have no idea when he was born !! he was born in southampton thats all I know, and had the twins in 1903 and married the year before . sorry to be a pain, i will understand if it is a tall order.

I think you need to get the marriage index as this might give you his age and should give his fathers name,or send for one of the childrens birth certs to at least confirm the parents names

sorry selena, this has taken me a while to sort with my 2 uncles who could not agree on his name and I was stuck in the middle so I asked someone elae in the family and they said not it was robert and that is who my gramp (one of the twins) was named after, again they said 1881 and they said 2c 43 as a ref. if this is not possible I will have to try something else but it is all rather sad in the fact that all the info was in my gramps 'green box' and someone in the family 'took' it and they have no idea where it is , and it contained everything we need .

You did not mention Robert.

So I looked for a marriage of a George Marsh!

Before I look for Robert's birth, how do you know he was born in 1881?

Thanks so much yes I am sure that is the one, they went on to have twin boys robert and frederick in 1903, I am trying to find when emily's husband robert died as my uncle wants to find out where he was buird as he is not with emily but to no avail, he was alive in 1942 when robert jr wife di but no-one knows when he actually die, if I find this I can satrt finding out where he is buried. he lived in Knighton road southamoton when he die thats all we know, so he was born in 1881 as far as we know.

I am going mad! my other uncle now says that emily's name was goddard not moody before she married Robert marsh, no idea when they married she was born in 1870 died in 1928 at 3 back of the walls southampton, 1901 census online is not working so cannot search the address! can you see anything on them at all please. cannot get marriage cert because I do not know all the details.

to be sure you really need to buy the birth cert of either Frederick Ernest and/or Robert George. This will give the mother's maiden name.

Can anyone find the death of this lady for me and if possible tell me her spouses name she was emily marsh die 1928 born we think 1870, she married william (George not sure which way round) marsh born 1881 but don't when, sorry not much info but that is all I am managing to get from the family. the family was in hampshire and lived at Knighton road southampton. they had 2 children frederick ernest and robert george

Goddness what a lot of great info, firstly nicola sorry but the family with annie in is not them as I have been in touch with someone from their tree and he said no as they only had one child and that was goerge, secondly selena yes I agree that the one borne in south shoreham is properly him as I had that one and was sure it was just neede someone else to find it, not sure about the family I will ask my uncle if he remembers any names from it and then the wedding ! well which one did he married ha ha, as far as we know he had no children but then we did not know he die on the titanic so who knows. I will find out some more and come back
