Lol, nice to be called fab.... !!

The marriage record unfortunately is pre certs, but she has a nice unusual surname!

I've been flicking through the 1841c for a John Crofts lodging/living elsewhere but not found him. The youngest on the 1841c is 6, so implies if he died it was after 1835. We know he is dead by the 1851, but I wondered if it was before 1841.

There are 4 possible death records on the BMD, but 3 are in Rugby district and one in Hinckley, and I would have thought they would be registered closer, if not in, Leamington. I haven't explored what district leamington fell into in those days.

Still.. there's food for thought for you.... ping me if you want anything else!!

Happy to help

:)

Thank you Diane, see just what i needed someone to guide me in right way. I would have gone with the completely wrong family otherwise, although i did think there was something wrong between marriage date & kids date. Thank you.

Will have to wait for cert to see names of father, then hopefully find a marriage record for a ? croft to a hannah ?

Thank you so much diane.

Thanks for your help Diane, the 1851 census i have just found seems to tie in more for why Sarah got married in warwick, now just need to find the 1841 for them with father. So hannah is possibly right mother, but not hannah goode as i thought.

See knew i bounced off someone else on here, would find something i didn't see before.

THANK YOU!!!

Oh it took me while to find john & sarah on 1861 again, there names are mispelt as hewett on it. This is what is puzzling me, how they got married in 1816 but first child that i can trace at moment is 10 years later, makes me think they are wrong parents.

Yes ordered it online, so should hopefully get next week then, just be interested to see if anyone else thinks i am on right line or wrong one

Diane

Diane Report 9 Nov 2007 20:56

Given those dates, it seems odd that none of those children were with John and Hannah on the 1841c...

I'll look for the family...

Diane

Diane Report 9 Nov 2007 20:56

now I'm going mad, I can't find John and Sarah on the 1861, found the one you've quoted, and see that John was a railway labourer, so this could have taken him all over the country... as indeed they are in Kent in 1871.

did you order the marriage cert online? They've been arriving within a week recently! So you shouldn't have long to learn if you've got the right parents.

Gary - do you know how to find the siblings on a batch on the IGI ?

Diane

Diane Report 9 Nov 2007 20:47

its only a couple of miles from Dodford to Staverton, maybe they just preferred the church there!!

Diane

Diane Report 9 Nov 2007 20:45

FORGET THIS! I misread when they married!!

GW

GW Report 9 Nov 2007 20:44

Thank you Diane, no idea why never saw her parents before. Funny they seem to have stayed in northampton, she also has other siblings apparently, so maybe i need to find them to get some clues too. Strange thing is they were married in dodford and seem to live there all their lives, yet the children are born in staverton from 1826, i have a feeling they are the wrong parents.

This is why i need another pair of eyes!

Diane

Diane Report 9 Nov 2007 20:41

No luck on Sarah in the 1841 either, there is another Sarah Crofts born Northamptonshire, but she is born in Brington, and I've traced her through to the 1861 and so she isn't the same Sarah.

Crofts would be quite a possibility for a transcription error... I'll try a few more options..
