Thanks Reggie for that, this is my worst fear after years of trying, though as semi / professional people of their tme, would have hoped for more formal approach in their ways and documentational handling. My luck !!

Hi Claire, Elizabeth Ann was residing with James Henry as wife in1881 census, being daughter-in-law of Emma Rogers? Not sure of this other detail referencing Liverpoool. The plot thickens ?

The Elizabeth Ann on the 1881 census may be Elizabeth Ann Gittins nee Imeson, you would need a cert to prove this
James Henry Gittines 1879 Oct-Nov-Dec Hunslet Yorkshire - West Riding
Elizabeth Ann Imeson 1879 Oct-Nov-Dec Hunslet Yorkshire - West Riding
Sam Judd 1879 Oct-Nov-Dec Hunslet Yorkshire - West Riding
Ann Alice Trueman 1879 Oct-Nov-Dec Hunslet Yorkshire - West Riding

Thanks Claire i can confirm the above two info / links.
My real problem now lies through identifying the real father(s) of Ellen Adelaide and her brother James Henry.
Marr Cert Ellen Dec 1888, father Wm Gittins, - butcher. Marr Cert James Nov 1879, father Henry Gittines - labourer.
The above listings have a compounding problem by the fact that there mother married as stated James Owen Gittins in June1854, this should be their true father !? Hence the need to find records of birth.

As explained earlier, registration wasn't compulsory...so if they weren't registered, you can't find records.
The baptisms, which are on the IGI, record the names of the parents.....as given to the vicar at the time.
And that may not be accurate info, but you probably won't be able to prove......or disprove it.
The husband of a married woman is assumed in law to be the father of any child born to his wife during the marriage....unless specific alternative information is given.
Have you accessed the LDS website to view the full baptism info?
