on 1891 Ancestry he is listed as John D Shallcross born abt 1879

on 1901 Ancestry he is listed only as John, but it looks like he has moved to Derbyshire.

How's the footie, we are in the middle of cricket down here.

John William is 1 month old he is their son

Apologies, pushing my luck here, but are you able to look at the actual image for 1901 census John Shallcross?. When I looked up his marriage on Free BMD there is no Sallie Shallcross match. The only female listings is a Kate or Sarah.
Maybe Ancestry mistranscribed?

Karen - Looks like a near certain possibility. I don't have his birth cert yet (on my list to order) but he was registered in the 3rd quarter of 1859 so almost certainly will have only been 1 when the census was taken. Also checked freeBMD and mine is the only one from that time period born in the right place.
