Just scanned the index and she is not listed under Ohara. The name appears to be ADSHEAD

The entry reads
Name AD?HEAD Mary Ann R
Station Secunderabad
Year 1886
Page 383

Hmm.

Get the certificate!

So why was Mary Anne Rose Ohara in India? Hopefully the first marriage certificate will provide some insight.

Perhaps she wasn't O'hara when she married just the widow of another deceased soldier?

The names and occupation of the fathers of each of the parties in a marriage should be recorded on the marriage cert.....no matter whether it's the first marriage, or a subsequent one.

If no father's name is given on the second marriage cert, it is possible, probable even, that she was illegitimate.

Pete,
Thank you so much. I have looked all over to find that info. I must remember to open my eyes. I was aware of the second marriage and indeed I have the cert for that. I am hoping that on the first marriage cert there may be some info of my G Grandmothers father.
Thank you again,
Lester

The Army Returns - Marriages - 1886 to 1890 has the following marriage index entry.

Name DEWEY John James
Station: Secunderabad
Year: 1886
Page: 383

Armed with that information you will be able to get a copy of his marriage certificate from the GRO

I am trying to find a marriage date for my G Grandfather. He enlisted to the 77th Foot Middlesex regt in 1875 in Hounslow Middlesex. (which I am pretty sure is the area he was born in) He was then sent to Duncannon Fort wexford Southern Ireland. When and where did he marry his wife? Mary Anne Rose O'Hara? John James Dewey died of intermittent fever whilst still a soldier in Kirkee India in 1896. They had four children the first of which was Eliza born in 1886 in Secundenbad India.
Thank you for any thoughts of help,
Lester
