Just had a quick look at the 81 census. That 2 yr. old Alice S. is listed as daughter but then under the column that says married or unmarried I'm sure it says grandau. So who does she belong to? Walter C. or his sister Fanny?
Really gotta go now.

Bit of a problem now. There were 2 Charles Prices born about the same time in Eastington. Now there's only one and he's with his grandmother Ann Jackson. There's another one with parents Thomas & Mary but he's born Marsey Hampton.
Hang on a minute, let's see if he's Walter again.
No, and I'll have to leave it now and get ready to go out.
Maybe tomorrow.

Thank you Margaret
I notice there is an Alice on both the 1881 and 1871 census.
Would this have been the same person with the wrong age or perhaps a grand daughter in 1881
What do you think

MargaretM Report 11 Dec 2007 21:27

He seems to be Charles Price in 1871 rather than Walter C.

Christine's right! I'm wrong. After all that typing of that humongous family, it's the wrong one!
He's Walter C. on the one that Christine found.

MargaretM Report 11 Dec 2007 19:46

Uh oh! Can't find the birth of William J. Price but there is a William John Butlin in Stroud. 2 of them actually, one in 1883 and one in 1885. Do you suppose they waited until they were married and re-registered him? No that doesn't make sense, if they did that they would give him the name Price, wouldn;t they?

Elizabeth

Elizabeth Report 11 Dec 2007 19:44

Hi margaret

Thankyou for that
I can't find him on the 1881 census.
It may well be just me.
As I said i am not great at this yet!

Free BMD has the marriage of Walter Charles Price and Caroline Butlin, Sep. Q 1885, Stroud which covers Stonehouse. (6a 523)
Marriage is a little late though for Willie J.

Look for Walter Charles Price, Elizabeth. It was written above Charles on the 91 census.

I was looking at the wrong census.

I can't find Charles in the 1881 census yet.

I am not very good at this yet.

Sorry.

Thankyou for finding the 1891 details
