It should give you his dads name but his mums will only be on there if she signed as a witness to the marriage

I have sent off for the marriage certificate as I know Basil married Ethel may Barber in 1928 and this I hope will give me his mum and dad. There was a big silance about the two of them in the family because Ethel ran away from home pregnant.So all the info was covered up.

oh now i am so confused . the place fits the age and name fits.but the little info from my dad says the names dont fit,But he is not sure. I know he married ethel may barber in 1928 and they both lived in cholton manchester at the time.

I am going to get the marrage certificate and check the details. I have spoke to his son my dad and his family did live at the address that the 1800 census had Basil Robinson aged two.
I was at such a full stop with this and now see why people carry on it was lovley to see were they lived now to find out more about them.

Can't find the death of Basil or George Basil in 1967.
But then in your original post you were 20 years out on his birth and 30 years out on his death!
Also you say he was born 1887 and you found him on the census age 2. What census would that be?
I think you should do as Reg suggests and buy that certificate so that you can get something definite.

You can't be certain about the census info unless you obtain his marriage cert, and find out his father's details.

There is no birth registration on the freebmd extracts for a George Basil Robinson.........has anyone checked the FULL records?

got my dates so mixed up Basil Robinson died in 1967 and from the info you have found for me he was born in 1887 and I did find him on the census age 2 Have an address were he lived now and hope to find out about his family as no one seems to know anything including his son my father.

That certainly looks promising, Liz. He could very well be George Basil. But if that is him then he wasn't born 1906. Also I doubt that he lived until 1997.

Actually, Von, Marion wouldn't have to buy the certificate. Ancestry gives the birthdate for deaths after 1984. I just can't find it.
