True,

I see I have noted the cert ready to order, but haven't done so yet!

Many thanks once again.

Lewella

Lewella Report 20 Dec 2007 23:36

Get the marriage certificate for Ann Lenderyon to James Bridges. That will at least give you his age and his father's name.

Pamela

Pamela Report 20 Dec 2007 23:28

Good thinking!

I don't have James' parents, so his death record would be of interest too.

Its quite strange, as Ann bought the plot on the death of her nephew (as you found him!) George, and then Alfred died and was buried there 5 months later. My grandmother, Ann's granddaughter was also buried in it, but noone else. When I visited with my cousin, we had no idea who the 2 men in the grave were, but on returning home, where a friend is actively researching our tree for us, I found the name Lenderyon already in our tree, so I feel sure Alfred is connected somewhere too.

Many thanks for all you've done.

Lewella

Lewella Report 20 Dec 2007 23:21

I'll have to keep looking. Perhaps Morton was connected to James Bridges?

Pamela

Pamela Report 20 Dec 2007 23:10

Lew, thanks for those, I had seen the marriage to Helen, and had it as a possible, hence the query if you could find her death... to find her parents.

Since we're going down the Helen line, have you tried searching for death for Helen Hitchcock?

I'm with it now, a second marriage to William Hitchcock after the death of Alfred! I was confused on that one for a bit!

Many thanks for your persistence with this one.

I don't have Huntingdons or Hawkins in my tree :( !

Lew,

Ok, so far all making sense.

I've found Alfred W Morton emigrating to Australia on the "Iberia" in July 1885. He is accompanied by Mrs Ellen A Morton.

I can't find a marriage in the UK for them, even though it must have been in the 4 years between the 1881 census and them leaving (unless they never married and just said they were).

I think this Ellen A Morton must also be connected to the Lenderyons as I can't see a link from Alfred's parents at the moment. Could you see if you could find her death please to see what parents are noted?

She was 22 on the ship, so born 1863ish.

This is much appreciated as when visiting the grave on a recent visit to Australia from England it wasn't known that these 2 men were family, who are buried with my grandmother.

many thanks
