Thanks for all the responses about George Tester. There seem to be 2 possibilities and I think it may be the one born in 1875/6. It's not impossible that he was a lot younger than his wife but if it's the one born in 1887 he would only have been 19 when he married and his wife would have been 7 years older than him.I think I may have to order the marriage certificate. |

The father's name is certainly George, according to the Pension info on Ancestry........at the time one of the forms was completed, the father was living at Wilderwick Farm, near East Grinstead..........this seems to have been at the time of his discharge. |

Thanks Reg for all that useful stuff. It really brings the past alive when you find little gems like that - the Christine Cummings who witnessed the marriage is my other great great aunt. |
