I don't know about 1891 / 1901 Margaret but these ' modern' days 'fret lead' is another term for 'leaded windows'

I thought it must be that, Sam. I went back to 1881 and it was definitely fret lead glazier. It's quite a hobby now, isn't it?

Thanks to Sam and Margaret for all their help. I needed the address especially as a researcher is going to help me find my grandfather's Boer War records, and he was of course an absent voter in 1901. No doubt I will have a few more queries in 2008!! Thanks again and happy new year to you both.

Kind regards
Jackie
