Hello

My Great aunt, Elizabeth Batt born in South London in 1894 married a Canadian officer just after the WW1 in around 1919 and emigrated to Winepeg Canada. He was called George Kelly. I dont have any details of his birth so not sure where etc.

Details given to my by my elderly unlce said they had six children, but sadly no names or dob. So if anyone has access to records and might be able to help me then please do!

Oh my! There's a lot of George Kellys. Thought I might be able to find his attestation papers but there are too many.
You wouldn't, by any chance, have a middle name for him?

I know theres lots of them.......i didnt realise it would be such a common name...

i dont have a middle name sorry. As i say all i have is a name and i know they married in 1919.

It is possible that Elizabeth and her new husband, George Kelly went back to his home in Canada. Here is a possibility.

I think if you bought the marriage certificate, you could possibly get his age and father's name then we could find his attestation papers and find him on the 1901 and 1911 Canadian censuses.

There's a George Alfred Kelly who was living in Winnipeg but was born Isle of Man.

It could be him? the letter she wrote to some one in 1984, said she was a widow. So he could have been older.

There's another one. George Aimur or Almur Kelly. He was born 1892, living in Elphinstone, Manitoba. He was single.

Derek, was the 1984 letter from Manitoba or had they moved to another province?

It never mentioned anything about her husbands family but more about her brothers and her parents.
