Samantha this should help

You need the following website & add it to favourites whilst your there

http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/

I think you already have your login & password so insert this on to the page (middle right hand side)

You should now see a pink box on the left handside of your screen-Press the line that says "marriage 1855-1933"

You should now have a form on your screen

Insert the details that Mhairi gave you which are-

1913 DONACHIE ANDREW REILLY NELLIE ROW OR RHU /DUNBARTON

It will say this will cost you 1 credit, press YES

you will see the details on your screen & it will say 5 credits to see original-YES

& hopefully you will have the info on your screen.

If you haven't put money on your account yet don't worry you will get an on screen prompt, follow instructions to pay & you should be directed back to where you were.

Got it!

1913 DONACHIE ANDREW RIELLY NELLIE ROW OR RHU /DUNBARTON

Its also down as

1913 DONACHIE ANDREW REILLY NELLIE ROW OR RHU /DUNBARTON

Notice the slight change in her maiden name.

SP keeps kicking me off at the moment but as soon as it lets me back on I'll take a closer look. I like a challenge :P

You dont by any chance have a copy of Bernards birth, do you? Birth certs usually mention the date and place the parents married.

Unfortunately his birth is far too late for looking up online.

Oh, now i am at a loose end, the only other thing i have to work from now is his brother and sister and mother

What I do find odd though, is that there is this marriage

1927 DONALD ANDREW CAMPBELL MITCHELL HELEN GOWRIE BLYTHSWOOD GLASGOW CITY/LANARK

Then in 1944, this death

1944 DONALD ANDREW CAMPBELL M 54 SPRINGBURN GLASGOW CITY/LANARK

I cant see the name being so "changed" though.

Will go and have a little search around and get back to you later if I find anything.

Ok scrap that cause I've just checked and there is no death in Scotland in 1944 for Andrew.

Maybe they didn't marry? Some of my relations lived together for years and had nine kids but never married for some reason. His death cert says he is single while hers has widow of...

I think the first cert you need to look at getting is Andrews death (if he died in Scotland). If you are certain he died in 1944 then it shoudn't be too difficult to find him.

Login to SP, get some credits (if you dont already have them) and click on the Deaths 1855 - 1957 in the bottom left.

It will bring up a screen. Put Don* in the surname box, Andrew in the first name box and set the years to 1944 and 1944. Nothing else.

Click search and it will come back telling you how many it has found matching the citeria. Click view, then ok when it tells you it will cost one credit.

View the possibles and click, View of the one you think is the proper one. It'll again tell you this will cost 5 credits are you sure.

The cert should then appear and you can decide whether it is your Andrew.

It will tell you who he was married to and who his parents where.

Is that any help?

That would be great if you dont mind i was looking at this site the other night as i do have a log in and password but just cannot seem to find my way around. The other problem that i have is that others have kindly looked for me and no-one has managed to find a marriage for Andrew Donachie or Donnachie to a Helen Reilly. But i do know that Andrews father was a funeral director in a small town in Scotland but as grandad has now passed away i cannot ask of any information.

Hey Samantha

I suggest you take the marriage of Andrew and Helen and work backwards from there. It'll give you both of their parents names then you can look for their births and their parents marriages.

You'll need to buy some credits on Scotlandspeople to do this and take a look at some certs. It'll be the only way to make sure everything is correct and that you've got the right line.

If you need any help using the Scotlandspeople website, let me know and I'll try to guide you through it.

This marriage is showing on scotlandspeople. You really should get one of the children's birth certificates to verify the parents.

No Year Surname (M) Forename (M) Surname (F) Forename (F) District City/County/MR GROS Data Image Extract
1 1893 DONNACHIE JAMES CONWAY ANNIE AIRDRIE OR NEW MONKLAND /LANARK 651/01 0004

It's the only one between 1888 and 1896 for a Donnachie marrying an annie in Lanark.

Possible

12 DEC 1872 Old Monkland, Lanark, Scotland

Hi again
We're not sure if Matilda and Helen were ever related,
I have just found some paperwork that states that Helen Reilly lived with her Grandparents in 1891 at 136 Reid Street, Glasgow and again in 1901 grand father's name showing as Thomas.
Let me see if i can copy this for you.

here is abit more on the Reilly family but looks like Matilda is not Helens sister after all:
1901 Living at 136 Reid Street, Glasgow

Annie Reilly abt 1871 Coatbridge, Lanarkshire Daughter In Law Glasgow Bridgeton Lanarkshire

Catherine Reilly abt 1830 Ireland Sons Wife Glasgow Bridgeton Lanarkshire

Helen Reilly abt 1888 Glasgow, Lanarkshire Grand Daur (Granddaughter) Glasgow Bridgeton Lanarkshire

Kate Reilly abt 1889 Glasgow, Lanarkshire Grand Daur (Granddaughter) Glasgow Bridgeton Lanarkshire

Patrick Reilly (Engine keeper) abt 1861 Glasgow, Lanarkshire Son Glasgow Bridgeton Lanarkshire

Thomas Reilly abt 1812 Ireland Head Glasgow Bridgeton Lanarkshire

1891 Living at 136 Reid Street, Glasgow

Helen Reilly abt 1888 Glasgow, Lanarkshire Grand - Daur (Granddaughter) Glasgow Barony Lanarkshire

Joseph Reilly (Calico print worker) abt 1872 Glasgow, Lanarkshire Son Glasgow Barony Lanarkshire

Patrick Reilly (Chemical labourer) abt 1861 Glasgow, Lanarkshire Son Glasgow Barony Lanarkshire

Thomas Reilly (Chemical labourer) abt 1827 Ireland Head Glasgow Barony Lanarkshire

Catherine Reilly abt 1828 Ireland Wife Glasgow Barony Lanarkshire

Is this the correct family or is it all wrong, looking at it the dates of some of the people do not seem to match from one census to the other.

Please help
Samantha
