General Registration didnt start in Scotland till 1855 so, as already stated, your relying on MI's or burial registers but even then you wont get a lot of information. |

hi pamela try highlandfhs.org.uk they have a search by surname and they say how many with which surname are in each graveyard no dates but they sell the MI booklets it may be well worth joining the society |

hi diane you click on publications then on gravestones index i dont know the names of the graveyards in the thurso area at all you could join talkingscot its free and pose the question there i am sure someone will answer or point you in the right direction |

Remember that most families could not afford gravestones/inscriptions. |
