Natalie to double check the birth, did Olive die in Sept 1992?

Diane

Diane Report 6 Jan 2008 21:41

I think the Iris and Olive records are sufficient to get that marriage record for Maria Davies and William Pearce.

To be 100% certain, you really should get Olive's birth certificate as well.

But at least then you'll be back to censuses which will be traceable by family, to get you some more information.

Good luck!

they must have married approx 1938/39/40. The order is guess work (apologies) and but i think Clara died fairly young?

Diane Report 6 Jan 2008 21:33

I couldn't find Pansy or Alf.. and if they are definitely in that order, one of them may have been pre-marriage.

when was the golden wedding???? that'll give us a clue when to look for the marriage!

Just found out for sure that bothers and sisters names of my gran where as follows:

Pansy
Alf
Iris
John
Olive (gran)
George
Clara - who i believe died in her 30's

I also remember that they celebrated there golden wedding anniversary
They were very much in love XX Oh im soo sentimental.

I have exhausted all avenues now though for new information.
But it does not seem to fit together doesn't it?

Diane Report 6 Jan 2008 21:11

Natalie.. ah ok.. no its me reading too quickly! so you think Thomas Jones was born in 1913, in which case they were probably married after 1936, do you know if they married pre or post the war?

If we find the other siblings we might be able to be more sure about the marriage of Maria Davies that I found, depending how SURE you are of her name, depends if you want to fork out the £7 for it or not!?

Finding your gran's marriage is slightly more timeconsuming as the marriages are not yet indexed for that period, and so its a quarter by quarter search... (Dee is offering to do some on this board, but would be better to give her the best chance if you can find out a more approximate date..)

<-- gone looking for siblings whilst you read this!

Diane

Diane Report 6 Jan 2008 20:51

Hang on!

If you get the marriage cert of your Grandmother and Grandfather you'll get both their fathers... which may be more help in tracing 2 families in the census?

Especially if you aren't sure of her birthdate for the record found...

Diane

Diane Report 6 Jan 2008 20:48

Potentially other siblings....

The census is a bit of a guess, given there are a few Davies in Wales and you have no other information to cross-check to confirm or eliminate... freebmd was "too busy" a minute ago, but i'll look for the marriage again...
