Thank you Lesley,

I know I have kept all my old scribbled notes' on this one (and many others) somewhere but just seen Erica's message and couldn't face delving through all my piles of papers to find the details again.

You have saved me all that work.

Dea x

P.S. to Erica - please don't lose them again Xxx

But if you need anything more, just ask.

Hello I'm back again. Is Dea or Kathryn about or someone else who can assist me perhaps even Lesley.
Someone told me that Samuel Onley 1784 who married Sarah Calcott 1811, someone actually gave me Samuel's fathers name & mothers name the only problem is I've misplaced this information. Someone also gave me the information details to get a birth or marriage certificate on John I think it was but alas I've been back through everything on these pages & can't find it anywhere. If you recall could you please help me & put it up again. I am such a clutts I know. I appreciated your help then & I most certainly would appreciate it again. Thanking you.

Best wishes

Erica (Australia)

P.S. Yes it would appear that Edwin is Carolines son. I also though whilst looking through things that there is a Samuel who is married to a Leah turns out it's Jno. Samuel uncle 1812. I better shut up before I confuse you all as well as myself. I have a habit of doing that don't I hee hee.

Oh dear the poor child. Yes it has been a pleasure hasn't it. You work so well together.
Please do keep in touch via my email address if you feel like it I'd like to know more about you both.
Until then or until next time Bye bye & as I say please do take care of yourselves & good luck with your individual trees.

Erica xx

P.S. Kathryn I have no idea of what you are talking about I can only imagine that there are some people out there that aren't for real is that what you are saying? Goodness I must be careful I take everybody as I find them. Silly me for thinking this site would be any different to another when it comes to imposters.

Fish Fish should have met my ancestor Green Phields; they could have arranged some sort of mutual burial scheme. ;) (Fertilizer ... It just reminded me of when we were helping a new neighbour, a young Chinese guy, plant some bits of perennial overflow from our garden in his front yard, and he dug down deep and came up with ... a fish. Quite a new fish, and quite large. We finally figured one of our Vietnamese neighbours must have left it in a pail on the back porch overnight and the local skunk had squirreled it away for future reference.)

Ya never know what you'll find when you meddle in other people's trees. I've pointed Erica at my own rubik's cube -- have a look if you're bored.

As I said to Erica, that thread tells the tale in pretty much reverse order, because I was framing it for Lew who was helping on the Australian end. But if you make it to the end, you'll see what I mean!

Gotta go add something else I just discovered. ;)

No,

I don't think we have ever really worked together before but it certainly was a pleasure.

In answer to your question - Yes, I am in England and a previous question - I have been working on my tree for exactly 3 years now (OOOppps it feels like longer !!)

MY tree?

Well, it is quite big but I have several 'brick walls' which I can't get past and when this happens I find it easier to solve other people's.

Dea x

P.S. to KathrynB - No apologies necessary - it was great to work alongside you.

Bye the way, one of my favourites is the several references I found to a 'poor boy' called Fish Fish - I think this was also his father's name if I remember correctly.

Actually, I was about to apologize to Dea for horning in -- I had no idea until I'd done all that mucking about that she'd been working on this so hard already. Ahem, multiple threads.

I guess we're just like any other addicts. We need a secret greeting, like "Are you a friend of Bill W?" (For the uninitiated, he was the egomaniac founder of Alcoholics Anonymous.) I could volunteer one of my favourite random names from olden day records. Mercy Fricker, as Ancestry has transcribed her, maybe. I think Nimrod Squelch is my all time favourite though.

"Are you a friend of Nimrod Squelch?" And only the insane genealogy freaks will know.

Sadly as you can now see (it's 0235 Friday), I don't sleep any better than you. I bet you do them in your sleep you have been so thorough with me. Do you spend a lot of time helping other people? How about your own tree how is that going?
Yes I shall ask again later about Adelaide you have me rather intrigued now actually. I know I have to show patience but that is something I don't have any of. However I must this time otherwise I shall totally bamboozle myself. Easy to do as you've seen. Are you in England or where? I really am going to bed now or my nurse will be here before I'm ready. So perhaps I shall see you tomorrow. Tell me something have you & Kathryn worked together before? It just sounded like you were so familiar with each other & you complemented each other in your help. Take care.

I have info on Adelaide but will keep it to one side for you ar the moment - It is certainly on the Calcott side (remember Samuel Onley married Sarah Calcott in 1811 ?? - I believe this is now proved but looks as though it was a second marriage for Sarah.

Dont ask now but ask again when you are ready.

Dea x

Nite nite!

P.S. - I hope you sleep better than I usually do - I do census look-ups in my sleep.

Sad or what?

Hello Dea,

HSN is household schedule number

Erica

Erica Report 31 Jan 2008 13:15

Sorry ladies I've just been reading through these past 4 pages & yes Dea you are right Kathryn who is Adelaide Niblett. Gosh if you had a name like that you'd change it wouldn't you. People would ask her what she was nibbling. I can only asume that as Samuel was an architect perhaps she was a servant.
I shall fix my tree up with all this new information tomorrow or over the weekend you see I go in fits & starts I wont touch it for a month then I'll get seriously stuck into it but I think I'm wearing it out again. Although I have some work to do yet. The first thing I'm going to do is order that marriage certificate isn't it Kathryn?
Goodnight/afternoon ladies

E xo

P.S. Do I now have to look up Auby instead of Onley?

Dea

Dea Report 31 Jan 2008 13:08

Don't go there !!!!

Digest what you have first and then start to follow this one.

It was Adelaide Niblett who DID ! - She was another grandaughter who appeared with your John (Criley ??) when I found him on the 1851 with his grandparents.

Forget it for now though - you need to confirm what you have and get it sorted on your tree.

Come back to us again if you need any help when you are ready for more

Dea x

P.S. - You keep mentioning the HSN - what is this please?

Dea x

Erica

Erica Report 31 Jan 2008 12:52

WHO DID DEA?

Erica

Erica Report 31 Jan 2008 12:51

Oh yes one last thing whilst doing this detective work as I call it I also found an Ellen Mann in St.Thomas Hospital, Lambeth. She was 32 in 1851.
Yes I just realised that the above message the surname is Mann not Onley I'll blame it onto the hour hee hee.

Erica Report 31 Jan 2008 12:48

Yes I think I too shall take a break it's nearly bedtime anyway it being 2339. However I'll give you something to think about before I go, yes more of my scribbles may as well get them aired anyway.
This is from the 1861 census on Ancestry. All of the following people are from the same HSN which is 176.
Alice 1853 8yrs
Ellen 1846 15
George 1851 10
John 1844 17
Leah 1815 46
Maria 1842 19
Mary A. Anne (?) 1855 6
Samuel 1839 22

Is this interesting or rubbish?
Also I think it was Kathryn who said that there was an Edwin James Onley but I've only been able to find Edward James. No Edwin. Is Edward Caroline's & John's son? Yes I know Derrrrrr!!!!
On that note I shall love you & leave you, until next time goodnight. Take care

Dea

Dea Report 31 Jan 2008 12:10

Hey,

Guess what?

Whoever she was - she married an Architect from PARIS !!! in 1851 Cheltenham.

His name was Edward Louis Paraire !

(Why are other people's families so much more interesting than my own?

Dea x

Erica

Erica Report 31 Jan 2008 12:08

Well you have both been very kind I thankyou so very much sincerely. I now have to get back to John & Caroline so next step is John's birth certificate No their marriage certificate isn't it? To find out who his parents were. Isn't it funny how it's John Samuel & his father in law is Samuel.
Anyway as I said I do appreciate everything you ladies have done for me please don't be strangers now.

Dea

Dea Report 31 Jan 2008 11:46

Exactly what I was wondering - I guess I will have to take a look.

GGGGGGrrrrrrrrrrrrr - I wish I wasn't such an addict !!!!!

Dea x

P.S. - There is another 'little thing' I am wondering about also ... John's brother Samuel (the Architect) - on 1851 he has a 12 year old son Samuel.

On 1841 he was at home with his parents - where were Samuel + Sarah ? - was he 'visiting' his parents and already married? OR was this Samuel an illigitimate child of Sarah's before their marriage and not an Onley at all??

Might take a break before I try to sort that one! (I am giving myself a headache and none of these are even mine!)

JaneyCanuck Report 31 Jan 2008 11:39

Yeah, but the real question is: who's this Adelaide Niblett and why are you confusing us with her??

Just thought I'd ask before Erica did. ;)

JaneyCanuck Report 31 Jan 2008 11:37

Yeesh, faster than a speeding bullet there, Dea. I saw that mistake as soon as the post hit the board and edited tout de suite! Hands and brain were not connected there. Or eyes and hands, or brain and eyes ...
