Hi Madmeg
I hope you are feeling OK now, I just put it down to it being late last night when we were looking at this posting, and it made me keep "checking" --which is a good thing--as I know how good you are at getting things right.
See you on the boards--
Take Care
Best Wishes

Well, I got into a right muddle with this, but thankfully Barbara has sorted it. Just to say I suffered a TIA last Monday, thought I had no ill-efects, perhaps I should rethink.

Follow Barbara's advice.

I will try again, Karen, just put a posting to you and computer crashed as I was sending it !!!

What I put was

I would send for your Mum and Dads Marriiage cert--to make sure he had put Alfred Cyril Trott down as his Dad.

However if you think that Valerie and Sylvia's birth indexs ( the ones I sent by PM) look right to you--then you could just send for David S Walker's birth certificate and see if it comes back with Ivy as his Mum. (the BIRTH date on his death index was 15 Nov. 1936 --and the birth index I found was for Dec (quarter) 1936--but whether it was for 15th Nov. you won't know without the cert )

David S Walker Birth index--------

Name: David S Walker
Mother's Maiden Surname: Walker
Date of Registration: Oct Nov Dec 1936
Registration district: Finsbury
Registration county: Greater London
Volume Number: 1b
Page Number: 621

The address to send for certs online (just case you don't know)

Please let us know how you get on Karen
Very best wishes

Hi All

you are really fab helping like this - I have rechecked some info and Doris is incorrect as my grandmother it is I believe infact Ivy and rumoured as a possible Walker. My fathers dob is believed to be 15/11/1937 and his marriage to my mother possibly 1/10/1960 ?

I will need to try and get the marraige cert as next move ?

Thankyou for all your help :-)

Its this marriage certificate I meant--Karens mum and Dads, (Jan put it on earlier ) to see who David had put as his Father ( as its Davids birth index we are looking for) Hopefully it will be Alfred C Trott

Name: David S Trott
Spouse Surname: Parrish
Date of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec 1960
Registration district: Wood Green
Registration county (inferred): Middlesex
Volume Number: 5f
Page Number: 1058
Find Spouse: Josephine E Parrish

I feel I can put this on the board as Karen has already said who her parents are

Best Wishes

I take your point Barbara, the marriage cert will at least tell us if or if not the father was listed as Mr Trott or not, and will also give Ivy Ena' s father who is as yet unknown.

BarbaraFromYorkshire

BarbaraFromYorkshire Report 12 Apr 2010 01:10

Yes, but I would have got the marriage cert first to see if her father HAD put Alfred Cyril Trott down as his father--then at least she would know the birth cert for 1936 will probably be the right one for her father.
Otherwise the birth cert could still be the wrong one for Karens Dad,

Best Wishes

Hi Barbara, after my initial mental block, yes, I think we have the same couple and the same outcome.

We need Karen to see what she thinks.

Madmeg Report 12 Apr 2010 00:59

This is going to be one of those "don't know for sure" situations.

Seems that David Sidney Walker was born to an unmarried mother, presumably Ivy Ena Walker, who shortly after married Alfred Cyril Trott.

I think the birth certificate of David Sidney Walker is needed to see what is on it regarding parentage. His marriage certificate will almost certainly say his father is Alfred Cyril Trott because that was the man he knew as his father, and he may have been his father, but he was not registered in the name of Trott at birth. I'm not saying don't get it, cos it might say something totally different, but if money is not overflowing, I wouldn't give it priority right now.

It is worth getting the birth cert cos I have a couple in my tree where the mother was unmarried and registered the child in her own name, but still named the father on the birth certificate. Of course, if he isn't named we are no wiser. But if he is, it could help us to draw conclusions.

Quite apart from the fact that Karen thinks his mother was called Doris, so even if she is unmarried, it should tell us that she was called Ivy Ena or Ivy at least.

Karen why DO you think the mother was Doris?

Mind you, I have a couple of Doris's in my family who were not registered as Doris at all. A Mabel is one. An Elizabeth is another. Where did Doris come from?

BarbaraFromYorkshire Report 12 Apr 2010 00:57

Yes his middle name is Cyril on Death index--lets keep our fingers crossed its the right ones for Karen--

Hi Madmeg

I put the death index on at 23-16--but at least it looks as if we maybe on the right track when 2 of us are finding the same info--Hope so --I found the Death indexs for Alfred C and Ivy E and agree with you that I also think its the same couple that married in 1938.

All the best

Barbara, I guess you have it. The two daughters fit. But not found a marriage of Cyril Edward to a Walker yet.
