Looking for Barry, Robin and Erroll Waller from New Zealand. Parents Vessey Harold Waller and Mary Ann Waller (nee) Beggs. Mary Ann went to New Zealand as a young child with her parents, siblings and nephew Robert (my grandfather) and her cousin Lillie in 1921. Her elder brother robert died in 1920 in Belfast and his son Robert emigrated with the grandparents until he was 16 then he return to belfast to his mum and brother and sister and stayed there starting a family. I would be grateful if I could have help in tracing any details of the Wallers or the desentants who I think are still in New Zealand today. with their famies. Mary Ann father passed in April 1938 and mother in July 1961. They are buried in Wairimai Cemetery I think which is a family grave. Would love to get in touch with any of hmary ann family or her brothers william, ernest, victor, or johns family.

Thank you

Sharonrose

Goodmorning, google Christchurch City Council cemeteries dartabase and you will find your early family of Wallens. I would also take a look at the white pages of the NZ telephone book it may help. By the way Lyttletown should be Lyttleton. Good luck Pat.

Vessey Harold Waller died 1979.
There is a Mary Ann Waller that died 1991, she was born 19 June 1910
They were married in 1935.

Do you know Robin, Barry or Errolls middle names?

I could look them up next time I am in the city (I only go in now and then) on the microfiche at the library - look up the births after 1935 and then try for marriages and from there electoral rolls or the phone books.

This does work, I have done it for others but could take me awhile. Have put others in contact with living relatives.

Cheers Persey

Victor Beggs married Amelia Dasler 1937

Amelia died in 2006 born 20 July 1910
Victor died 1983 born 19 Feb 1907.

Found an Ernest Beggs married Doris Thompson 1947. There is a Doris died 1999 born 20 July 1905 - her birth is not recorded here.
There is an Ernest Beggs died 1974 born 29 March 1903.

I have founded two William Beggs in the marriage records one William John and one William Hugh?

Also another John Beattie Beggs died 1969 aged 73.

Hi Perse, This is my ancestors, william hugh is a brother, poss william john maybe related. Mary ann is their sister who married vessey, there sons are Barry John, Robin Vessey, and Errol Ernest. It would be great if you could please send me any infor you can find as I am trying to trace their children or grandchildren. I know my great greatgrandfather owned JB Beggs Shoe Shop on coloumbo st or ave in christchurch, in between 1921-1938 when he died. I dont know if it is still going today. He was a Boot Manufacturer and Built his home on Wyndham Street Christchurch Lyttleton. My grandfather moved with his grandparents to NZ in May 1921 and family but he returned to Belfast, Northern Ireland in July 1930 to his Mother and Siblings. My grandfather was Robert McClean Beggs and I think he would of been to school in NZ so it would be nice if there could be any details found about him please. His grandfather John Beatty Beggs Shoe Maker will probate was in 1944 at christchurch, how would I be able to get copy as I think you can order to see it in the record office but cant because Im in England. Do you ever go to office and if so please couse you look this up for me as I think it would help me trace more of my ancestors. I have come to a brick wall of this part of the family but I do know they have burial family plots at wyimiari cemetry but there is no pics of grave on the internet. Any site you may know that I can search for details of bdm would be great if you could help. Thank you Sharonrose

.. in case it helps ...there's the 'Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness' NZ site (on-line) (RAOGK) ...which has volunteers listed to take photos of gravesites etc incl Christchurch etc.

The 'National Library of NZ' (on-line) has an 'Ask a Librarian' service ...they will check their records including electoral rolls, newspaper death notices and business directories.

Valerie Report 13 Dec 2010 05:36

......The 'Ask a Librarian' service is free ....the librarians have been very helpful. They will check their records/directories/electoral rolls and newspaper death notices. Do try the RAOGK too ....I'm sure they will be helpful.

NZ does have a BDM website you can look at for free. If you want any certificates then you can order them which involves a fee. Website is bdmhistoricalrecords.dia.govt.nz

Thank you soooooooooo much this is great. I have been told that tracking a will of an ancestor can help with tracing your family as they put their family in them. I have traced my gggrandad John beatty Beggs will who died in april 1938 but probate not til 1944 on archway but it says that you can view records at the christchurch office but I cant as in England. So i cant get to view it. Is their anyway I can view the Will online like Northern Ireland does?

Valerie

Valerie Report 16 Dec 2010 02:07

.......try asking the ' RAOGK' (NZ) volunteers (as previously mentioned for grave photos) ..... they can possibly help.

The other Beggs listed in that Cemetery are Elsie May, Mary Elizabeth, Sarah Ann and Sinclair Thomas.

The offer is still open if you would like me to check out Errol, Barry & Robin - can do this next time I am in the City Library and look up the microfiche.

You have a happy and safe Christmas Sharonrose.

Sharon

What happened, as around Christmas time you were trying to get hold of a copy of the will from the Archives held in Christchurch.

I know one was not able to access archives other than the minimum on line information February after the earthquake and since then. But that seems to be lifted now and access is back to normal.

I had a quick look and there seems to be no restrictions to access of the record.
