Well I think it just might be worth buying the birth certificate for Lydia and see if it matches parents for your grandfather. |

I have been told he had a sister Lydia and a brother Tom, I have found a Lydia MacDonald born in Louth but no Tom/Thomas. |

Did your grandfather have any siblings? if so it might be worth tracing a birth of one of them. |

Sometimes if people had two names they would use either of them as first names. Maybe he was registered as John James but known as James. |
