Occupation On Marriage Cert

Hi

Ive noticed over the years from doing my tree, that if i was to look for the rank or regiment of a family ancestor that was in the war; i would happen to find it more on the birth cert of their child, rather than their marriage cert. On a marriage cert, would they display the rank and regimant if they was in the war at the time, or just their normal occupation?

regards

My grandad was in the army when he got married in 1940, his marriage certificate lists his rank, regiment and service number with his 'civilian' occupation in brackets underneath.

My uncle married in wartime, 1943, in Bradford. His number, rank and occupation are all shown, ...as it is for his bride.
Their home addresses back in Hampshire are shown in the address column.
