I have an ancestor born about 1660, with the christian name " CUTHBORTUS" Ihave searched name meaning sights,but none know this name, only cuthbert. Any body know where i can search etc please. |

I would presume it's the Latin name for Cuthbert. Back then the Latin name was often used at christenings. |

It is definitely the Latin spelling. There were periods when registrars used Latin spellings. My Charles became Carolus, and son of Charles is Caroli. Daughter of Charles was probably Carola. |
