I have a copy of a death certificate that states under the heading qualification of informant ' Causing the body to be cremated' Could this mean that the informant was the funeral director/nurse at hospital etc. |

I am "the person causing the body to be cremated" on my wife's aunt's death certificate. According to the Registrar, this term is applied to informants who are not blood related to the deceased. |

I registered a death last week for a resident at the home where I work, and it said on cert qualification, causing the body to be buried. |

Causing the body to be buried (or cremated) is the term applied to an informant who has no other relationship to the deceased but is making the funeral arrangements. This is often the case where there are no relatives or they are to old and infirm to be able to register or make the arrangements themselves. |

Sorry, should have added that a funeral director can/should never be an informant as they have an interest in the event which excludes them from acting as informant. |

It may well be worth trying to contact them . The informant on my G.Aunts death certificate was a life long friend and arranged her funeral . |
