Member Since: October 2006 Posts: 75 Send Message	I'm helping my friend to trace his sister (Helen Insley) who was adopted at 6 weeks old in 1971, when my friend was 18 months old. I've found her birth record in jan-mar 1971. After the District, Vol and Page number there are some hand written numbers 5231/5, does anyone have any idea what these could be. Surely not a link to her adoption records, I thought they were kept secret. Can anyone recommend good websites for help contacting adopted siblings? Or any other tips. Thank you ! Michelle

	The hand written entry will refer to her adoption and she will have been entered on the adoption register. But you are quite right......these records are not readily available to all and sundry. Sue

	Have a look at the GRO website. There is quite a bit on there regarding adoption. Sue
