One thing I have found its that you can't send attachments via the Ancestry message system, so it isn't possible so sent tree reports, for example.

You have exchange your 'real' email addresses to do this.

No, the message goes back through Ancestry, they can't see your adress and you can't see theirs.

They might know yours when you reply, unless you edit it out of the original message which is retained in the new message.

Actually the message itself comes to your email and you reply directly to it without knowing the address of the other person and they don't know yours.

I have sent a message to a possible contact on Ancestry, please will someone remind me, will a reply prompt me on my email address, or will I have to access it on Ancestry???
