Hello all,

I found out yesterday that my great grandfather was involved in the First World War however I don't understand his role:

It states; Hoban D, Driver, MGC

Can anyone tell me what a 'Driver' would have done (I assume he drove tanks) and what MGC stands for?

Many thanks

Claire

Could well have driven a motor bike, used extensively during the war

I would think it was Machine Gun Corps-If you go to National Archives and look in Documents online on Medal cards of WW1 ,with his name it might give more detail
