Linda

I too wish your husband a speedy recovery. Remember to look after yourself too though I know how easy it is to forget to do the simple things when you are caring for someone who is seriously ill.

To all who responded.
Could we perhaps give GR the Name No of the non repliers, and perhaps they would investigate. I think it would help the web site if they tried to clear some of the OLD Dormant accounts. Put them in a holding account , like the banks do (I Think) when the account does not get accsessed for say 1 year. Not sugesting delete completly for say 5 years
Just a thought. it might make the system work quicker!!

Kate came up with this suggestion on 26 October 2009 which I think is a good idea. They already have this system on Ancestry.

"But I have seen another idea on a couple of sites (not genealogy based) where you can see a member's profile page and it will tell you what date they joined and what date they last logged in. Maybe if Genes did something like that, people would be able to assess the chances of getting a reply and be able to decide whether to send a message or not from that information?"

Don't quiet understand Bob? Barbara i visit a site to do with Motor Homes , and they have that system, really good idea, as you can send private message as well as Forum coments, and find out some facts of the people you correspnd with

Pauline, It maybe worth your while to re-read some of the comments that were added to your very poignant thread.

It may not come as a surprise that GR is the equivalent of a quill pen in today’s modern IT world.

On the original topic of how long to wait, i've just had a response from someone who after uploading his tree "was utterly inundated with responses which I found impossible to keep up with and then experienced a long period of poor health". He says that he is now picking up the threads and replying to every one who made contact with him but it's obviously a long process. So as others have said, don't always assume the worst. You may get fed up and mentally write someone off - then it comes as a pleasant surprise when they do eventually reply.
