Thanks for that annielaurie, I assume you have to be a member to view FindMyPast, or is there a pay to view section - never been on that site?

If his discharge papers have survived they should be on the FindMyPast site.

UK, Military Campaign Medal and Award Rolls, 1793-1949
about G Duckhouse
Name: G Duckhouse
Campaign or Service: Second Afghan War
Service Date: 1878-1880
Service Location: Afghanistan
Regiment or Unit Name: 2nd Battalion King's Light Infantry
Regimental Number: 42 Bde/1029



Someone on here will point you in the right direction for obtaining possible Service Papers.

Just been reading the board and the Attestation post caught my eye.
I've been told by a family member that my great grandfather GEORGE DUCKHOUSE born 1857 Oldbury Worcestershire, served under a General Roberts in 3 campaigns and received a pension for a march in Afghanistan from Kabul to Kandahar. No other info available, can anyone help me with how I can find out more please?
