Cathy, they had a daughter who was born in Colombia, Sth America in 1893, it is a possibility, their son's name was Charles on the 1901 Census see above.

They arrived sometime before 1901 back in the England.

Received image of marriage thank you. Very interesting, that Alice is on the 1901 Census, just a thought is there an Alice Bristow returning to the U.K.?

I have just checked the bdm, there is 2 marriages for a William Copperthwaite in Bethnal Green, 1883 and 1895 to Alice Bristow!

On London marriages the 1895 one is not yours...William is a labourer. The 1883 marriage is not showing.

Potty Report 7 Jul 2011 13:28

I wouldn't worry too much about which board it is on , Joy. Most helpers look at all the boards.

Can't find a marriage for Ralph and Margaret on freebmd but I see from the 1901 census that Margaret was born in Scotland, so possible they married there.

scotlands people has only one marriage for a Ralph Copperthwaite to a Margaret. You will need to register on the site and buy credits (30 credits for £7) but you will be able to view and download the original marriage registration for 6 credits (one to view the query result and 5 to download the image). The registraion will give you Ralph and Margaret's parents not just their fathers as on an English cert.
