Has genealogy "had it's day"?

I agree that the site is much quieter. When I first joined there would be 3 or 4 pages of new posts for find Ancestors every morning. Now there is barely half a page.
Lots of people have been led to think it´s easy to trace your family because the television programmes are misleading. For one thing, they give no idea of the costs involved.
I think there will always be a core of dedicated researchers, but nowhere near the number we have seen over the past 5 years or so.
It´s not a hobby for the fainthearted.

I don't think genealogy itself is waning but I can see a time in the not too distant future when it will......mainly because we are currently doing all the work and will hand it on to the next generation (hopefully) completed.
