Caroline,
Did you have all the information that we found, to help us confirm correct family?
Who is Henry Townsend - have you got his birth certificate?
Where do you connect with either Mary or Henry?

Caroline,
I do not understand what your most recent posting means.
You have already said that Mary Brice Miller was born a Walker from Charlton.
I have no specialised know ledge about voluntary Red Cross helpers, or VAD's and would google for further leads, which you should be capable of doing.
What information was on her death certificate? Have you looked to see if anyone on here has her in their trees?

Caroline Report 22 Jan 2012 08:38

mary brice miller -Nee Walker b Charlton.Appointed Guardian to my
Grandfather Henry Townsend b 1889 Newport. (see 1901 Census sussex).
Her death recorded 1922 registered by her Brother Horace Walker GP

Info shown on Xavarian Brothers Records re Mayfield UK 1900 obtained
from University of Notre Dame Indiana. (All Xavarian Uk education records now held there.) Mary Brice Miller address shown as Queens Gate Gardens.
This Guardianship leaves me to believe that Henry was an Orphan but so far been unable to trace a death record for his father (my gt grandfather) also
a Henry born 1957 Puriton nr Bridgewater Somerset.

hello Nicky
I see you are looking at Copper. Are they the folk singer family?I have come across them in other searches.
Back to Mary Louisa Brice Miller nee Walker- she places my grandfather Henry Townsend b 1889 Newport Mon with The Xavarian Brothers as a boarder in Mayfield Kent Uk. These records are held in The University of Notre Dame showing his entrance in 1901 and recording her as his Guardian
she living at the time in Queens Gate Kensington. I am really stuck on that.Who and why was she his Guardian.
