Trouble is there is possibility of 2 fathers for John b1882 and I tried to narrow it down with occupations later in life. Mine were all coal miners.

Would like to see what conclusions others reach.
Grandfather was born John Gallaugher 1882 in Walsall Staffs but used Gallagher spelling later. I have his birth certificate which gives father as John & mother Annie Gallaugher (nee Marsden). On the 1911 census Grandfather gives his birth as Methley in Yorkshire which is wrong. In 1911 Annie is living in Huddersfield using her maiden name and I think they quite likely never were married. My mother only ever saw her grandfather once as her father turned him away and would have nothing to do with him.
What I am looking for is who do others place as my grandfathers grandfather. It looks like there are only 2 choices and what percentage chance would you give each, if you reach the same conclusion as me?
Just if you have time and are bored - it's just the one area of my family tree that has given any bother
