nowhere does it say that Abraham was William's father


In fact .......... the 1891 Census posted by greyghost says that William's mother was SINGLE


She is Head of the household, and Abraham Ragnor (or Rayner in 1901) is HER Stepfather, living with her.

There is this Army record, age is out a little but wife's name Emily Ann (As per poss marriage posted earlier.) They married 30.12.1911 in Chesterfield. Florence Eva shows as step daughter b Tamworth 1907 and the other children as theirs 1911, 1913 and 1914 all b Chesterfield
William served 64 days and was then discharged - not likely to become an efficient soldier

You have to be aware that less than 30% of the records of WW1 servicemen survived WW2 ........... and the records that have survived are often damaged and / or incomplete


so you really are very lucky if you manage to find anything!

I am looking for military records on William Martin born 1888 in clay cross chesterfield his parents were Samuel and Ellen he was in the military and I've been told he was injured in the Somme, but we have no way of knowing for sure, I have searched all military records can find nothing anyone help please
