Carol Report 19 Feb 2015 00:50

I am researching the family of John Julian and Mary Ann Lanyon. John was born about 1811, I believe in the Truro area and Mary ann Lanyon was born about 1810 in the same area . They were married in 1831 at St Martin in Meneage?, Truro, Cornwall.
They had 5 children namely: John Thomas Searle (b 1835), Edward (b 1837, Mary ann (b 1838), Susan Jane (b 1843) and Emily (b 1846). The family migrated to Australia in 1848.

I have been unable to find the family in the 1841 census or any birth information on John or his children.
.I would be most grateful if anyone could help with any info as to the parents of John and Mary Ann or any information as to where the families may have lived in Cornwall as my daughter is travelling to Cornwall in April to do some research.

Many thanks

Carol Whittaker

Tab through the parishes, then look through the images for baptisms etc.

I did see a note on one Public Family Tree that Susan Jane died "on board ship" 1849

Carol Report 19 Feb 2015 20:29

Hi Shirley,
I think Jacqueline saw Searle as a surname ie John Thomas Searle Julian.

Jacqueline

You're absolutely correct, Carol.....and I can't think of a plausible excuse!

Kicking myself now..............

Carol Report 20 Feb 2015 03:43

Hi Jacqueline,

Still may come in handy as I don't know how the Searle comes into John's christian names. Sometimes good to look outside the box.

There's no image related to this to verify if Susan Jane did die on ship:

There are a few people called John Julian in the 1841 census living in Cornwall; but none of the right age or with the right wife and kids. :-S

If you search the baptisma in the Cornish OPC database
http://www.cornwall-opc-database.org/search-database/baptisms/
there is a John Roberts Julian baptised in Manaccan (a Meneage parish) in 1811.
His mother being Susanna Julian, who was probably the one baptised Susanna Roberts Julian Dotson at St Martin in Meneage in 1789.
