The ER will have to be accessed in Aylesbury.......................

If you are very lucky, the local main library may do a lookup for you

I know about the 1916 marriage - she liked a few names too - these theatrical types, lol. So I'm back to the beginning needing an electoral register check. Hopefully I'll get somewhere tomorrow.

To be sure of the informants name, its best to contact Aylesbury study centre and ask for an ER look-up.

He was born Posner but used Phillips for work There is no guarantee there was a marriage. Divorce was expensive. The 'stepson' may have been born several relationships prior to connecting with my grandfather. He may even have been born abroad. It will be far easier if I can find the stepson with a wife on electoral register and trace from there to find his connection

If the address for Jack is 32 Stratford Villas, then he is listed on the 1961 ER with Lilian Philips.

At the same address are Patrick and Deborah M Gillespie. They may have no relationship with the Philips other than sharing part of the house

Name: Jack M Phillips
Year: 1961
County or Borough: Camden
Ward or Division/Constituency: St Pancras North

If you're trying to figure out the stepson's name, it obviously helps if we know the various different surnames he used so we can look for a marriage!

How will that help find the step son? I'm hoping the electoral register will provide a starting point to locating the step son. I'm trying to find somebody who knew my grandfather who can tell me about him, what he was like, his likes and dislikes. The last wife I know of was Lilian Dickinson, spinster aged 51, theatrical artiste, when she married in 1952. Could be her son but in that case she wasn't married to his father. Or they could have separated and he's hooked up with somebody else. Or it could be somebody he was with before her .....

I think I have managed to upload to Keepsafe. This is my first attempt so bear with me if I mucked up. I'm not sure who the stepson's mother is! My grandfather had quite an unusual life and used several names. There is no guarantee the mother was even married to my grandfather.

The name looks as if it might be J D Grant Rink

Contact Aylesbury Study Centre to see if they hold the historical ER which can only be searched by address

http://www.buckscc.gov.uk/bcc/libraries/Branches/aylesbury_study.page

If they do have copies, they will be able to tell you the names of the eligible voting residents, but will probably charge a fee.
.......

If you don't know the name of the stepson's mother, tell us who your grandfather was plus dates/places and we may be able to work it out from that.
