I am searching my partners ancestors . I have Kenneth Sinclair my partner still living His father Thomas Sincalir born 1892 Byker Newcastle married Margaret Cable Simpson 1891 in 1918. Thomas's father was Hugh Sinclair born 1857 Perth Scotland he married Catherine Garavan 1859. They had 2 sons John and William. Catherine died 1885. Hugh went to Newcastle on Tyne maybe for work and took his 2 sons with him as he is on the Census.1901 Now this is the odd bit. It says on the 1901 sensus that Hugh is there with his 2 sons John and William and now has Thomas age 9. It says that Sarah Sinclair is Hughs wife nee Stokoe late Ord. I cannot find any marriage for these two or a death for Sarah. Hugh went back to Scotland Perth and in 1905 married Amy Jane Barrie nee Lawrence. He took Thomas with him but left John and William possibly because they had jobs. They were apprentice boiler makers. Can anyone find Sarah's marriage to Hugh or her death please or any sign of what happened to John and William. Thank you

Marina,

You do not state whether or not your partner is living. If so, might I suggest that you delete your partners date of birth? It is not a good idea to include such info.

It is possible that Hugh and Sarah never married. Could this possibly be her death if her married name of Ord was used for her death:-

Where does it state that Sarah's name is nee Stokoe, late Ord? Is it on a birth certificate because it won't be on a census return?

Thank you everyone for your replies. Yes Kath that might be William on the 1911 Census. I have the 1901 Census thank you safc. It says Sarah is married but cannot find any marriage or her death and yet Hugh married Amy Jane Barrie 1905 :-S

SAFC
Yes that is the marriage of Sarah Ord who married Thomas Stokoe.

The other one is a bit hard to understand. Hugh did have a brother Robert who was living with him at Perth before he came down to Newcastle
