Thanks folks for all your efforts BUT the mystery remains - there is no record of Ebenezer Tyrer after 1881 census............

Thanks for your point about gathering info for the benefit of others; I understand.
Maria's Informant on death cert (surprisingly?) was her brother David Meese, NOT her son Howard Tyrer. Both of these were living quite a distance from Cardiff, where Maria died.
I can't find a notice of her death in newspapers. She didn't make a will.

It is an extract from the Law Times of a legal case in 1868 involving the Wiltshire iron Company
