I am researching Gwladys May Haughton born in Broseley Shropshire on 9th December 1894. She married Glanfford Pierce in Manchester on 24th Feb 1917 and on the marriage certificate her father was named as George Haughton. I can find no record of her birth but in the 1901 census she is in the home of George Haughton and Emily Parsonage but is listed as their niece. I can find no record of her in the 1911 census. Can anyone clear up the mystery of who her parents actually were and find her in the 2011 census. Many thanks in anticipation.

Dn't think s Gins as her birthdate is correct for 84 given me by her granddaughter.

Unless her granddaughter has somehow got hold of the wrong date.

She may not have had her birth registered until the January 1895 quarter.

I would be tempted to order the certificate as instinct tells me this is her birth record. :-)

I would say that both adopted a Welsh spelling to their names sometime after 1919, and that is what has caused part of the confusion

The 1911 census that Chris posted is from FMP. Ancestry has the name listed as 'Haighton'
