July, 1837 was when registration began in England and Wales. I think it was 1855 in Scotland (but not sure on that). Kath. x |

Registration wasn't compulsory until 1875........and many people didn't bother, for one reason or another, until they had to! Reg |

I am not sure about Ireland but Scotland's BMD registration did not begin until 1855. Georgina. |
