Hi all I need that little bit of extra help to find Annie Wilcox, what I know is that her father is John Wilcox a Wheelwright according to her marriage on 26/05/1879 in Hammersmith to Henry Machell. On the cenus, it says she is born in Fulham and birth date approx 1862?? I have found her death 28/11/1949, buried in Fulham Old Cemetry and this says she was age 87 years old when died. I am wanting to order her birth certificate, and would like to know if she had any siblings, but I just can not find her on the cenus, or a birth??? Any help greatfully received Thanks Joanna |

Have you tried to find her father in 1881? You can search by occupation on Ancestry. Reg |

If she was born c1862, there may not be a cert............registration wasn't compulsory until 1875 Reg |

Reg Thanks for that idea, never used the occupation search on ancestry before, but will definitely use it again. Only one Wheelwright John Wilcox approx 1832 Somerset Mary Ann Wilcox c1836 James John Wilcox c1870 Alfred Wilcox c1874 Maria Unity Wilcox c1876 so big possibility it could be a connection Joanna |

Joanna, I can't see Annie on the 1871 census but you never know. I have looked at the 1881 1891 and 1901 and found Annie and Henry. Her name of Annie and birth 1862 Fulham seems to be consistant. No sign of any of her siblings with her. Will look again, Joan |

Joan Annie just does not seem to exist before the 1881 cenus? That cant be right. Unless there is a mistranslation of the surname. Thanks Joanna |

Surely she can't be born in 1865 and married in 1879, will look again, Joan |

Lynne I have Annie Wilcox on her Marriage Certificate and Daughters birth certificate, but I suppose anything is possible, but I would of thought unlikely. Joanna |

Hi, There's also an Ann Willcox, unmarried, servant, born Fulham 1855 on th 1871 census RG10; Piece: 713; Folio: 64; Page: 28 If she married in 1879 this would make her 24yrs as opposed to 17yrs if she was born 1862. There's a few problems. Wilcox is constantly mistranscribed to Willcox as I have already found out when researching this name myself. Additionally peoples ages constantly changed through the census periods sometimes being 8 -12 years older at the time of the next census Cheers Paul |

Sorry omitted to include on her marriage certificate 26/05/1879 it says that she is 19 years old, living at 2 Britannia Place (same as Henry Machell), also a witness at the marriage is Eliza Wilcox, a sister? or mother? Paul, think this leaves your 1855 possibly out of the question, unless as you stay the age range is out by 5 years or so. Joanna |
