Hi Naomi I have a reverse case in my tree. Someone who was born and lived in Canada, but was considered to be too short for the Canadian Air Force, so went to England and joined the RAF. They were Allies, after all! The Edmonton Fusiliers had a polar bear on their badge - this may help. For the military records, try http://www(.)cfcsc(.)dnd(.)ca/links/milorg/canada(.)html - remove the brackets Judi

Not only were they allies ........... but Canada was a part of the British Empire at that time! Canadians were considered British citizens by the Brits ............. a part of the Colonies don't you know!!! So even being born in Canada of parents born in Canada would not have ruled out someone joining the British Army in WW1 or WW2, or of doing the reverse. Sylvia (in Canada!)
