Not only were they allies ........... but Canada was a part of the British Empire at that time! Canadians were considered British citizens by the Brits ............. a part of the Colonies don't you know!!! So even being born in Canada of parents born in Canada would not have ruled out someone joining the British Army in WW1 or WW2, or of doing the reverse. Sylvia (in Canada!)

Hi Naomi I have a reverse case in my tree. Someone who was born and lived in Canada, but was considered to be too short for the Canadian Air Force, so went to England and joined the RAF. They were Allies, after all! The Edmonton Fusiliers had a polar bear on their badge - this may help. my grandfather was born in london in 1905.....orphaned in 1910..........spent some time in canada probablys from 1919.....came back to the uk in about the late 1930's......he joined the canadian army during ww2... my question is how could he join the canadian army when he was born+lived in the u.k? is there any way i could find what exactly he was in+his army records? all i know is him uniform had a cloth badge with a polar bear on! not a lot to go on eh?!!!!!!!!!!! living in hope.............rachel PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!
